The Passion Play, or story of Christ, has been performed every 10 years by the people of Oberammergau, Germany ever since 1634, when the villagers vowed to God to spare them from the Bubonic Plague. As not one person fell victim, the locals have continued their promise and this unique event will be held in 2022 (after postponement in 2020 due to Covid-19). The town is also a beautiful setting to explore other Bavarian sites.
